Jude Law Says Marvel Security Is Crazier Than Harry Potter

The moviemaking industry is dominated by large franchises, as shared universes and storytelling have become commonplace. Plenty of A-list actors are vying to join their own iconic franchises, with some celebs lucky enough to appear in multiple properties. Jude Law is one of those aforementioned performers, who has upcoming roles in both Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald and Captain Marvel. His roles for both project had been kept under wraps for quite some time, although one franchise's security was particularly tight as the movies were coming together.

During a recent appearance on The Late Show Starring Stephen Colbert, Jude Law spoke about his huge upcoming roles (or at least tried to), where he revealed that the Wizarding World is decidedly more relaxed than the behemoth Marvel Cinematic Universe. As he describes it,

I think it might be this British-American difference. With Fantastic Beasts, they're like 'We assume you're not going to give away any of these secrets. And if you do, we're going to tell you not to again and we may quietly kill you.' In Marvel, it's like, 'Don't you fucking ever tell anybody anybody about this!'

Well, that certainly sounds intense. Both of Jude Law's upcoming franchise roles were a mystery to the general public for a long time, but things over on the set of J.K. Rowling's Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald were decidedly more relaxed. And while Law chops that up to British sensibilities, it could easily be a combination of different factors.

Jude Law's comments coming from his recent appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert make a great deal of sense, given how high anticipation is for both Harry Potter projects and new installments in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The franchises have massive fanbases, who are often eager for any clues about what each upcoming blockbuster will contain.

Indeed, any leak or bit of information will spawn countless fan theories, which have the possibility to spoil the contents of the film. HBO's Westworld had this problem, as a season finale twist was discovered early on during its first season thanks to fans sharing clues and theories on the Internet as the season unfolded. Franchises like Harry Potter and Marvel have far more fans, so there is even more danger about a smart moviegoer figuring things out before a movie has even hit theaters. Although Marvel does seem decidedly more worried about spoilers and security than the company across the pond.

One reason for this juxtaposition is Marvel's past history with spoilers. Some of the MCU's biggest stars are notoriously bad with spoilers, resulting in more than one PR nightmare for the popular shared universe. Perhaps the biggest offender is Mark Ruffalo, who both spoiled the events of Avengers: Infinity War, and accidentally live streamed Thor: Ragnarok's premiere from his cellphone. He's not the only Marvel blabbermouth, however.

Tom Holland has also spoiled a fair amount of Spider-Man related information, so it seems that Marvel has a short leash 10 years into the shared universe game. And we can't blame the company.

Jude Law's conflicting experiences also make sense given the level of secrecy around his upcoming roles. While we know he'll be playing a younger version of Albus Dumbledore in The Crimes of Grindelwald, he refuses to confirm anything about his Captain Marvel role and we've had to look at toys and more for guesses. And that MCU blockbuster will arrive in theaters in just a few months. So while Law does any press or public appearances, he has to dodge questions about the Brie Larson headed project.

Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald will hit theaters first, arriving stateside on November 16th. The second of five films, David Yates' upcoming sequel will further expand the Wizarding World, and bridge the gap between the first movie and Harry's arrival in Hogwarts in The Sorcerer's Stone. Jude Law's Dumbledore will no doubt bring new light to the beloved character, who is still so mysterious to the generations of fans.

New information has been slowly released about The Crimes of Grindelwald, revealing more and more connections to the Harry Potter franchise we know and love. In addition to Voldemort's horocrux Nagini and Sorcerer's Stone creator Nicolas Flamel, it was recently revealed that Professor Minerva McGonagall will be in the upcoming movie--despite it being somewhat canon-breaking in regards to the character's age.

In typical Marvel fashion, Captain Marvel information has been hard to come by. The stakes of the Marvel Cinematic Universe has never been higher, as Captain Marvel is the final installment before Phase Three (and the MCU as we know it) ends with the still untitled Avengers 4 movie. Brie Larson's casting as Carol Danvers was announced years ago at San Diego Comic-Con, so the fans have been waiting quite some time to see Captain Marvel come to life.

Most of the cast of Captain Marvel have been announced, including surprise characters that are returning to the Marvel Cinematic Universe for the first time in years. This includes Guardians of the Galaxy's Ronin and Korath, as well as Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. star Clark Gregg as Phil Coulson. Samuel L. Jackson will also reprise his role as Nick Fury--digitally de-aged and given the use of both eyes.

Marvel fans believe that Jude Law will be playing Jude Law as Mar-Vell / Walter Lawson, but he still played cagey during his appearance on The Late Show. He's simply too scared to confirm anything, with both legal action and money on the line for keeping the MCU's secrets. But since Law will be doing plenty of more press leading up to the release of Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald, he'll have to keep dodging those queries, while also trying to keep the secrets of the Wizarding World at the same time.

Luckily for the fans, answers are finally on their way. Jude Law's Dumbledore will make his debut when Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald arrives on November 16th. And just a few months later, Captain Marvel will hit theaters March 8, 2019. In the meantime, check out out 2019 release list to plan your next trip to the movies.

Disneyland Reveals How To Book Your Reservation For Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge

Update: Just before noon pacific time, less than two hours after reservations were made available., Disneyland announced via Twitter that they were gone. Now the only way to guarantee yourself access to Galaxy's Edge in the first three weeks is to make a reservation at a Disneyland Resort hotel.

Original Story: After years of waiting, we're now less than a one month away from one of the most anticipated entertainment events in the world. It's not a movie release. It's not the end of Game of Thrones. It's the opening of Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge. For anybody who has ever dreamed of traveling to the galaxy far, far away, that day is almost here.

However, to get into Galaxy's Edge during the first three weeks it's open, you'll need a special reservation specifically for the new land. Those reservations can begin to be made at 10:00 AM pacific time on May 2. Here's what you need to do:

To Make A ReservationThe first thing you'll need is an account on the Disneyland website, so if you don't have one of those, go get signed up now. It's completely free and if you're going to Disneyland anyway, there's no reason not to have one, it makes a lot of things very easy.

Next you need to go to the Disneyland Reservation Page for Galaxy's Edge. The link can be found here. Starting at 10:00 AM this page will act as the virtual waiting room for making a reservation and will walk you through booking one once it's your turn. A single reservation is good for up to six total people.

Of course, there is also a second option for booking a reservation. If you book a stay at a Disneyland Resort hotel during the period of May 31-June 23, you'll automatically be given a reservation for Galaxy's Edge during one day of your stay. No other steps are necessary. Simply be sure that everybody who will be going to Galaxy's Edge is listed as a guest on the hotel reservation.

However, be aware that if the hotel reservation is canceled, the Galaxy's Edge reservation will be as well.

Once You Have A ReservationMaking a Galaxy's Edge reservation is free, but, of course, visiting Disneyland is not. That means that on the day of your reservation every member of your party over the age of three will require a valid theme park admission.

In addition, every member of the party 18-years-old or older, as well as the person making the reservation, regardless of their age, we'll require photo ID in order to enter the land.

The other thing to be aware of is that no modification of the reservation time can be made once it's done. There's also no remedy for replacing a reservation if it goes unused, so before you book it, make sure the date and time works for you. You also won't be able to modify the names on the reservation.

Disneyland has not confirmed exactly how long you'll be able to spend in Galaxy's Edge with your reservation but guests who have received reservation times already by booking hotel rooms are reporting being given a four hour window. Depending on exactly how many people are being let into the land, that should be enough time to get a ride on Millennium Falcon: Smuggler's Run, and maybe even grab a drink at Oga's Cantina.

After June 23, reservations for the land will no longer be required. The word is that Disneyland is working on a digital notification system, not entirely unlike getting a buzzer in a restaurant, where you'll be able to request a visit to the new land, and the Disneyland app will notify when there is space for you to enter.

Disneyland has never done anything quite like this before but then again in the parks 64 year history, nothing quite like this has happened. Galaxy's Edge is the largest single land expansion in the history of the park and its using one of the most popular IPs in the history of pop culture.

A nearly identical version of Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge is set to open at Walt Disney World August 29 at Disney's Hollywood Studios. No reservation period has been announced for that opening, which makes me think the true purpose of the Disneyland reservation requirement is to act as a soft opening for the new land.

I can't help but wonder if fewer people will be let into Galaxy's Edge during this reservation period than the land can technically hold. It would be a great way to put the space, the attractions, and the cast members, through their paces and learn to deal with any unforeseen problems that might appear with smaller crowds.

If true, this would make the first three weeks of Galaxy's Edge actually the best time to visit as it might be less crowded, not more crowded, than the space will be once the reservation period ends.

Since Galaxy's Edge at Walt Disney World is essentially identical, any problems found at Disneyland can be fixed before they ahppen, and thus the reservation period wouldn't be necessary.

The other thing that the reservation period adds is piece of mind. If all you want is to be one of the first to visit Batuu, knowing that you'll be able to, that you won't have to stand in an insane line, because there will be no stand by line, is probably a very nice feeling.

Of course, that still leaves the question of how easy getting reservations will be. The land will certainly accommodate hundreds if not thousands of people, and that many people, in four hour blocks, when the park will be open for 16 hours a day, over three weeks of time, will certainly allow for a lot of people to book reservations. Though exactly how many people will be trying is impossible to know.

Before the reservation system was announced, estimates were that as many as 200,000 people might show up on opening day, but even that number of people should be able to get a reservation without issue. You might not be able to get the exact day and time you want, but it seems likely getting a reservation at all shouldn't be too much of an issue.

Of course, if demand is truly excessive, we could see all three weeks of time fill up quite quickly.

Yes, Disney Just Hit Another Global Box Office High

It's no secret that Disney as a behemoth force in the film industry. The House of Mouse own iconic properties like Star Wars and the Marvel Cinematic Universe, while also putting out it's own animated and live-action blockbusters in the process. As such, each year brings insane amount of box office profits, and 2018 was certainly no exception. In fact, the release of Mary Poppins Returns will push Disney to this year's box office high.

While there are still a few weeks left of the year, the projections for Disney's profits for 2018 are going to pass a big number: $7 billion globally. This is only the second time the House of Mouse has passed this mark, with 2016 currently the record holder at $7.6 billion. It's an impressive feat, and these two years are marked with highly anticipated blockbusters.

This new estimation comes to us from Deadline, which marks the upcoming release of Mary Poppins Returns as the final movie to put Disney over the $7 billion mark. Rob Marshall's upcoming musical sequel will no doubt take quite the haul during the Holiday season, considering the family friendly nature of the movie, and the iconography of the original. And only James Wan's Aquaman to compete with in theaters, Disney's return to Cherry Tree Lane appears to be a practically perfect way to make some money.

Of course, Mary Poppins Returns is far from Disney's highest grosser from 2018. That honor goes to The Russo Brothers' Avengers: Infinity War. Ten years in the making, the massive blockbuster combined almost every major character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and brought an epic and emotional blockbuster to theaters. It ultimately made an insane $2 billion, and its follow up Avengers: Endgame might end up making even more money, as it brings Phase Three to a close.

2018 was ultimately beat out by Disney's performance in 2016. For those who don't remember, that was the year that the Star Wars franchise returned to theaters with J.J. Abrams' The Force Awakens. Casual moviegoers and the generations of Star Wars fans came out in drove to see the third trilogy begin, eager for franchise favorites like Leia and Han to interact with the new cast of heroes. As such, it brought Disney to an even stronger year of profits.

Still, 7.6 billion is no sum to shake your finger at. In fact, there have only been three years in the film history where this number was reached. It's clear that Disney knows exactly what moviegoers are interested in, and the House of Mouse is showing no signs of slowing down. Between Star Wars, the MCU and Disney blockbusters like the live-action Lion King movie, the money is going to keep rolling in.

Disney's Mary Poppins Returns will arrive in theaters on December 19th. In the meantime, check out our 2019 release list to plan your trips to the movies in the New Year.

Would Ellen Page Come Back For Tim Miller's Kitty Pryde Movie?

Between films like Deadpool 2 and X-Men: Dark Phoenix, the X-Men franchise has numerous irons in the fire, but one of the most intriguing of the bunch is the Kitty Pryde movie being developed by original Deadpool director Tim Miller. There's a lot of enthusiasm for the character to return to the silver screen, and some have wondered whether or not Ellen Page could come back to get involved in the project. That's something that CinemaBlend asked Page during a recent interview to discuss her new film, The Cured, and while the actress isn't officially involved in the movie, she did reveal that she would do so if given the opportunity because she wanted to do more with Kitty Pryde during her tenure. Page explained:

I loved playing Kitty Pryde, and I think one of the things I always felt was I wish I could have done more. My experience in the films wasn't necessarily that extensive and she is such a great character. I don't know anything about the movie to be honest with you, but yeah, of course, that's something I'd love to do, but I don't know.

Ellen Page definitely isn't wrong. Making her debut in X-Men: The Last Stand, her performance as Kitty Pryde has become widely regarded by many fans as one of the standout elements of the third X-Men film. Alas, Ms. Pryde was put on the back burner for several years before resurfacing for a side role in Bryan Singer's X-Men: Days of Future Past, which swapped in Hugh Jackman's Wolverine as the character to go back in time instead of her. The announcement of a Kitty Pryde movie hasn't included any reference to Page or her version of the character, but it sounds like the Juno actress would return if asked.

In any other franchise, it would be easy to assume that everyone just wants to recast and move on, but X-Men is particularly notable for how its films play fast and loose with continuity. Although the franchise technically rebooted with the events of Days of Future Past, its conclusion also made sure to note that Page's version of Kitty did still exist in the timeline. Now it sounds like the only thing that would need to happen to continue that story would be to extend an offer to Page.

Regardless of whether or not Ellen Page returns to play Kitty Pryde, there's a lot to get excited about regarding her future in the X-Men franchise. The character can phase through space and time, which allows her to run through walls and send her consciousness back in time. These abilities are some of the most unique in all of the X-Men films, and they could set a Kitty Pryde story apart from other Marvel tales.
